Ever since Monster Hunter World dropped and completely redefined what it meant to be a AAA action RPG, Capcom has been on an absolute tear with the franchise. From the jaw-dropping environments to the downright exhilarating boss fights, it’s been one of my favorite gaming addictions for years.
Now, with Monster Hunter Wilds on the horizon, it’s time to sharpen our blades, stock up on Mega Potions, and prepare for another thrilling hunt. We’ve gathered all the juicy details so far, from new characters and monsters to fresh mechanics and system requirements.
Let’s dive in!
From what we know so far, Monster Hunter Wilds takes place in the mysterious Forbidden Lands, a sprawling and unpredictable environment filled with new threats and untold secrets.
The narrative revolves around a young boy named Nata, who has a special bond with one of the new monsters, Arkveld, the White Wraith—a ghostly and enigmatic beast shrouded in mystery.
Given how Monster Hunter usually leans toward environmental storytelling over cinematic-heavy narratives, it’ll be interesting to see how Nata’s connection to Arkveld plays out in a world driven by the hunt-or-be-hunted philosophy.
A new Monster Hunter game wouldn’t be complete without a fresh batch of NPCs to guide, craft, and, let’s be honest, sometimes annoy us.
Here’s the rundown:
Nata – The kid with a connection to Arkveld. Likely central to the main story.
Alma – Your Handler. Love ’em or hate ’em, you’re getting one.
Gemma – The Smithy. Expect lots of hammering and the iconic “next time, bring me materials.”
Fabius – The Leader of the Hunter’s Guild. Probably the one giving us all our deadly assignments.

Rove – A Wudwud whose role is still unknown. Mysterious beast? Merchant? Frenemy? Who knows.
Olivia – A hammer-wielding badass in the Forbidden Lands Expedition Team.
Athos – Olivia’s elite Palico. Can’t have a Monster Hunter game without our feline MVPs.
Erik – Astrum Unit’s Handler. Likely assisting in research or logistics.
Werner – Astrum Unit’s Smithy. More hammering, more crafting, more deadly weapons.
The full lineup of 14 weapon types is back, meaning you can stick to your trusty favorites or challenge yourself with something new.

No new weapon types have been confirmed (yet), but tweaks and reworks are bound to shake things up. I, for one, can’t wait to see how the Insect Glaive evolves in this new iteration—high-flying aerial combat never gets old.

Capcom isn’t just rehashing Monster Hunter World—they’re bringing in some killer new mechanics to keep things fresh:
Seikrets (Mounts) – Rideable creatures that can carry an extra weapon, meaning more combat flexibility on the go.
Dynamic Weather Conditions – Changing weather mid-hunt can alter monster behavior and create new tactical challenges.
Focus Mode – A new feature that allows for precision aiming on attacks and guards. Likely inspired by Soulsborne combat mechanics.

Brace yourselves, because Monster Hunter Wilds is coming in hot with a beastly lineup of fresh monstrosities. Some highlights include:
Arkveld, the White Wraith – The eerie, likely endgame menace of the Forbidden Lands.
Lala Barina – A monstrous spider boss. Arachnophobes, good luck.
The Quematrice – Name sounds terrifying. Probably is.
Uth Duna, Jin Dahaad, Hirabami, Nu Udra, Rompopolo, Ajarakan, Rey Dau, Balahara, Doshaguma, Chatacabra – No details yet, but with names like these, expect pure chaos.

Plus, a bunch of returning fan-favorites to keep us on our toes.

Capcom is pushing the boundaries of world design once again, introducing dynamic biomes that feel truly alive. Expect each region to house different monsters, environmental hazards, and secrets waiting to be uncovered.
Windward Plains – Likely a vast, open area for early hunts.
Scarlet Forest – Sounds beautiful. Also sounds like something deadly lives there.

Oilwell Basin – A desolate, harsh wasteland? Bring fire resistance.
Iceshard Cliffs – Because no Monster Hunter game is complete without a frozen hellscape.

If you’re planning on running Monster Hunter Wilds at a decent framerate, here’s what you’ll need:
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super / AMD RX 5600 XT
CPU: Intel i5-10600 / i3-12100F / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: 16GB
Storage: 140GB SSD (yeah, it’s a big one)
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super / RTX 4060 / AMD RX 6700XT
CPU: Intel i5-11600K / i5-12400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600X / Ryzen 5 5500
RAM: 16GB
Time to start clearing out that hard drive, because this game’s gonna be thicc.
But if you don’t think your PC is gonna be able to handle the beefiness – Monster Hunter Wilds is coming out on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S all at the same time, on February 28th, 2025.

Monster Hunter Wilds is shaping up to be an absolute beast of a game (pun always intended), and everything we’ve seen so far points to Capcom going all out for this next-gen entry.
From the stunning new environments to a fresh roster of monsters and the introduction of mounts, this might just be the most immersive Monster Hunter yet.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be over here practicing my Insect Glaive combos and dreaming about my first encounter with Arkveld.
This game is looking fire, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. If you haven’t already, make sure to pre-order Monster Hunter Wilds on Steam and let’s meet up in the Forbidden Lands for some funderful monster slaying.
Stay tuned for more updates, and happy hunting!

But the real question is how hard is the hammer gonna hit?

Ok, ngl but the hammer has always been my “go-to” weapon of choice besides the insanity of the insect glaive. I will 100% make a guide for the hammer when I get my hands on it, so make sure to come back for that.
