How to Beat Doey in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4

Guide on Getting Dirty with Doey in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4

Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 has finally dropped, and with it comes one of the most unhinged final boss fights in the series: Doey the Doughman.

This multi-colored freak is relentless, and if you’re not careful, you’ll find yourself on the receiving end of a doughy demise.

But don’t worry, I’ve got your back with a step-by-step guide to taking down Doey, along with some crucial gameplay tips to keep you from being thrown into his jaws.

How to Beat Doey the Doughman

Taking out this blotchy menace isn’t just about running for your life—it’s about strategy. Follow these steps to send Doey straight to the cookie cutter in the sky:

  1. Use the Hand Grabber to Dislodge Liquid Nitrogen Canisters – Scattered across the map, you’ll notice these blue-tinted canisters filled with freezing liquid nitrogen. Your goal is to dislodge them with your grabber hand and get Doey to walk over them while he’s in pursuit. He’ll automatically store the canister behind his head like some kind of psychotic pastry chef collecting ingredients.

  2. Shoot the Canister While He’s Under a Saw – Once Doey has a canister on his back, you’ll need to lure him underneath one of the large industrial saws hanging overhead. Time it right and shoot the canister, freezing him in place. Pro tip: If you successfully use a saw to hurt him, the light above it will turn off, meaning it’s now out of commission. No spamming the same saw—this game actually wants you to work for it.

  3. Finish Him Off with the Blade – While Doey is frozen stiff, use your grabber hand to yank down the saw’s handle (follow the flashing light if you’re lost). This will send the blade crashing down into his doughy body, taking a chunk out of his health. You’ll need to repeat this process three times to finally put him out of his misery.

And just like that, the pastry boogeyman is toast.

Gameplay Tips for Beating Doey

Doey’s not just some slow-moving lump o’ dough—he’s got a few tricks up his bendable sleeves. Here’s what you need to watch out for:

  1. Projectile Barrage from Above – At random intervals, Doey will leap up onto the central crane and start screaming like he just found out he’s been left out in the sun. This tantrum isn’t just for show—he’ll rain down projectile attacks. The good news? You can easily avoid these by either sprinting in any direction or diving into one of the tunnels for cover. After a few seconds, he’ll hop back down and the chase resumes.

  2. Dough Tentacle Nightmare – At another point, Doey will stop dead in his tracks, slam his hands into the ground, and summon a swarm of dough tentacles that rise up around you. These are a little trickier than his projectiles because they can’t be blocked by hiding in tunnels, but they can still be dodged if you keep moving and don’t get cornered.

  3. Avoiding His Grabs – If Doey gets too close while chasing you, he’ll try to grab you—don’t let that happen unless you want to get kneaded like fresh dough. The best way to avoid this is to keep hugging the sides of tunnels and avoid running straight down the middle of the path.

  4. Breaking Free if Grabbed – If Doey does manage to catch you, don’t panic. You’ve still got a shot at escaping. Quickly aim your flare hand at the body behind his head and fire. If you’re too close, it might take up to three shots to break free, so don’t waste any. Make ‘em count.

How to Beat Doey in Poppy Playtime Chapter 4 The End

Funderful for the Whole Family

Let’s be real—this fight isn’t exactly a cakewalk, but if you compare it to the CatNap battle from Chapter 3, it’s definitely a bit easier.

The CatNap fight had you juggling way more mechanics that progressively got harder as the fight dragged on.

Doey, on the other hand, is more about mastering movement and timing. That being said, this battle is still a damn fun ride, and nothing beats the satisfaction of seeing that overgrown doughball get minced to bits.

Once you’ve finished carving up Doey, just keep following the paths uphill until you reach an entrance with a green flashing light.

That’ll take you back to Safe Haven and on to the final phase of the game.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead!

If you’re still here, you probably want to know about the little “bonus” part of this fight. Technically, there’s a minor phase two, but it’s barely a fight—it’s more like a glorified cutscene that you still have to play through.

To finally end Doey’s rampage for good, just aim at the open canister on his left side and take the shot. Then, pull the lever hanging above him in the center of the arena.

Boom.

Game over.

If you want a full video breakdown of the Doey fight and ending, I’ve got you covered—check below for a more detailed look at how to turn Doey into yesterday’s leftovers.

That’s it, folks. Go out there, stay frosty (literally), and show Doey who’s boss.

And remember—when life gives you killer dough monsters, smash ’em up good.
