The internet is full of clout-chasers looking for their 15 minutes of fame, and the gaming industry is no exception.
The latest case?
YouTuber McDizzle Gaming decided the best way to make a name for himself was to take down a bigger name—SmashJT. And in doing so, he pulled one of the most dishonest tricks in the book: impersonating an Ubisoft employee to manipulate SmashJT into reporting false information, just to…prove a point?
The result was a tangled mess of deception, hypocrisy, and a failed attempt at self-promotion.
McDizzle, under the guise of an Ubisoft employee, fed SmashJT a fake story about a made up Assasin’s Creed: Shadows leak.
I have a breaking, super-exclusive leak too: it’s going to be bad.
SmashJT, a former QA tester for Sony Online Entertainment turned independent media, ran with the information. That’s where McDizzle’s “big gotcha moment” came in.
Instead of acting as a legitimate whistleblower or exposing real industry issues, McDizzle crafted a hoax specifically to trick another YouTuber into making a mistake.

Did SmashJT vet his source thoroughly?
No. He did not.
But let’s be real—McDizzle wasn’t acting in good faith in the slightest.
He took a legitimate Ubisoft employee’s real information (more on that later) to bait SmashJT into publishing a false report so he could turn around and say, “See? He doesn’t fact-check!”
That’s not investigative journalism; that’s what’s known as entrapment.
The problem with McDizzle’s “experiment” is that it ultimately proved nothing other than the fact that it’s easy to deceive people when you actively try to mislead them.
If anything, all this demonstrated is that a solo content creator like SmashJT—without the resources of a major media outlet—is human and can occasionally make a mistake when dealing with sources.
But does that mean he’s unreliable? If anything, (to me) this situation highlights the uneven playing field between independent journalists and mainstream media that has multiple set of eyes on a story before going to publication.
Compare this to SmashJT’s history of reporting on issues like Sweet Baby Inc. and the insidious push for forced DEI in gaming.
While his work has sparked controversy, he’s been calling out real, systemic issues in the industry.
McDizzle, on the other hand, isn’t exposing corruption or fighting against gaming’s ideological takeover—he’s just taking a cheap shot at a more successful creator.

Once the truth came out, Ubisoft’s legal team quickly got involved, ensuring SmashJT corrected the misinformation and redacted the identity of the real Ubisoft employee whose name had been used in this fiasco via a cease-and-desist letter.
Unlike McDizzle, Ubisoft didn’t see this as some grand exposé—they saw it for what it was: identity fraud and deception. McDizzle was also sent a cease-and-desist letter, which caused his “big exposé” video to now be removed (whoops, hope that wasn’t monetized) along with a bunch of tweets off of X.com.

And yet, McDizzle didn’t seem to learn much from the situation.
His response?
Posting on X.com, saying, “I hope he [SmashJT] takes it seriously as sharing personal information to a large audience is no joke.”
The irony wasn’t lost here.
He was the one who impersonated an Ubisoft employee to begin with. If anyone was reckless with personal information, it was him.

But McDizzle’s deflection didn’t stop there.
A quick look at his previous posts on X shows a rollercoaster of blocking SmashJT, unblocking SmashJT, and peppering in attempts at self-promotion at every twist and turn along the way.
This isn’t the language of someone looking to have a meaningful conversation about journalistic integrity—it’s the rhetoric of someone desperately trying to milk drama for attention.
If this was supposed to be some great moral victory for McDizzle, it feels more like a hollow win that only served to damage his own credibility.
What does this whole mess actually accomplish?
For McDizzle, not much beyond looking like a bad-faith actor trying to elevate his brand by tearing someone else down.
For SmashJT, it’s an embarrassing misstep, but hardly career-ending—especially when you compare it to the broader topics he covers.
The left-leaning gaming media, which already despises SmashJT, is predictably jumping on this situation to discredit him, particularly as he heads into his lawsuit with Alyssa Mercante.

Speaking of which, that lawsuit is unlikely to go anywhere.
Given Alyssa’s own public tweets about her past as a cam girl and openly stating she “sucked d*ck” to get into the gaming industry, it’s hard to argue that SmashJT’s coverage of her was defamatory and definitely won’t meet the criteria for stochastic terrorism – however many tweets she deletes.
That doesn’t mean the fight won’t get messy, but this latest batch of funsies doesn’t really have any relation to their ongoing case.
In the end, McDizzle Gaming tried to discredit SmashJT and ended up making himself look like an ass in the process.
He wanted to spark a discussion on “journalistic integrity” while using some of the least ethical methods possible to do so.
The result is that SmashJT gets a minor blemish on his record, while McDizzle walks away with a cease-and-desist letter from Ubisoft, his big “exposé” video removed, and a reputation as someone who will lie to try to create his own narrative.
Congrats, McDizzle. You played yourself.
(Insert slow clap here)

Lol hey KC, thanks for stopping by. I got no hate for the McDizzle, but honestly it’s just the hypocrisy and talking like he’s above the situation that gets me.
